Der innere Schweinehund – welch possierliches Tierchen das auch sein mag – zeigt sich für jeden unterschiedlich. Wörtlich dargestellt, ist es eine Kombination aus Schwein und Hund. Warum in der deutschen Sprache ein solches Tier als Symbol für persönliche innere Unzulänglichkeiten herhalten muss, weiß auch nur derjenige, der dieses Tier erfunden hat.
Dieses Fantasie-Tier symbolisiert unsere Unlust, Peinlichkeiten, Ängste, Zweifel und Nöte, mit denen wir in bestimmten Situationen konfrontiert werden. Sehr oft sind damit ganz alltägliche und banale Dinge gemeint, die in jenem Moment angsteinflößend oder unbequem erscheinen. Letztlich sind sie harmlos, aber dennoch bestimmen Tätigkeiten und Gedanken, die wir mit etwas Negativem verbinden, unseren Alltag. Man denke da nur ans Aufstehen beim Klingeln des Weckers, Sport treiben oder Aufräumen. Genau bei diesen oder ähnlichen Tätigkeiten stresst uns dieses Tier, das sich irgendwann in uns breitgemacht hat. Doch Hilfe naht! Du kannst deinem inneren Schweinehund ausweichen, in dem du die Sichtweise auf die Tätigkeit oder den Gedanken veränderst. Wenn du deinen inneren Sauhund schon nicht zähmen kannst, dann knuddle ihn einfach.
