Liebessongs kann jeder schreiben. Gute und wirklich schöne Liebessongs zu schreiben sind aber nur den wahren Meistern vorbehalten. Liebe zieht immer. Jeder mag und jeder will Liebe, aber in diesem Fall ging ich mit der Liebe etwas sparsam um.
Auch wenn die Vorgeschichte dazu partiell sehr wohl mit Liebe zu tun hat, ist I won't cry for you offensichtlich kein Liebessong. Es ist ebenso kein Hass-Song, auch wenn es den Anschein hat. Nur weil man jemanden nicht mehr liebt, heißt es nicht automatisch, dass man diejenige Person hasst. Es geht um gegenseitige Wut, Enttäuschung und nicht erfüllte Erwartungen. Schmerz spielt ebenso eine große Rolle. Etliche Jahre später, nachdem ich sie endlich losgeworden bin, hat die Wut selbstverständlich nachgelassen. Es ist alles vergeben und verziehen. Sie wusste es nicht besser, und ich auch nicht. Der Songtext spiegelt nicht mehr meine heutige Meinung über jene Zeit und die Person. Aber: Alle Bitches dieser Welt haben diesen Song redlich verdient!
Wenn ich diesen Song heute nochmal schreiben würde, würde ich ihn genau so schreiben. Es ist das Gegenteil eines Lovesongs. Es ist ein Anti-Lovesong. Schick diesen Song deinem/deiner Ex. Mit Grüßen von mir.
